Citizen Hong Kong is giving the compact Tsuyosa a proper run, not a one-off cameo. Two more 37mm references have joined the line: the steel, black-dial NK0030-51E and the gold-tone NK0032-56A with a white dial.
Both use a guilloche-style dial pattern, sapphire crystal, and Citizen's Cal. 8310 automatic movement. The numbers matter here. At 37mm wide and 11.5mm thick, these are small enough to wear like the older integrated-bracelet watches that inspired much of the Tsuyosa's appeal, rather than a scaled-down version that still feels bulky.
Two Different Takes on the Same 37mm Case
The NK0030-51E is the quieter of the two. Its black dial lets the texture do the work. Guilloche can become busy quickly when it is paired with a bright colour, but black keeps it controlled. You notice the pattern when light catches the dial, not from the other side of the room.
The NK0032-56A takes the opposite route. A white dial and gold-tone case give it a dressier feel, especially on the integrated bracelet. It is still recognisably a Tsuyosa, though. Citizen has not tried to turn it into a formal watch with a thin strap and a plain dial. The case shape and bracelet keep it rooted in the same easy-wearing sports-watch lane.
That split makes sense. The black reference is the one to buy if you want texture without committing to a colourful dial. The white-and-gold model is for someone who already knows they want the watch to be noticed.
Why 37mm Is the Important Part
For years, the mainstream Tsuyosa has done well because it makes the integrated-bracelet look accessible and fun. The usual 40mm case works for plenty of wrists, but it also puts the watch in a crowded category. There are a lot of 40mm steel sports watches. A 37mm Tsuyosa has a more distinct job.
Citizen has now released several 37mm Tsuyosa 60 references in quick succession, which suggests this is becoming a real size tier rather than an experiment. That is good news for buyers who like the original idea of the Tsuyosa but wanted less case across the wrist.
Case diameter is only part of the fit, of course. Thickness affects whether a watch settles into a shirt cuff or feels perched on top of the wrist. At 11.5mm, these Citizen models are not ultra-thin, but they are sensibly proportioned for an automatic watch with an exhibition caseback and an integrated bracelet.
Calibre 8310 and the Tsuyosa 60 Direction
Both watches run Citizen's Cal. 8310 automatic calibre. It is a 21-jewel movement with a 60-hour power reserve, hacking seconds, and an exhibition caseback. The 60-hour reserve is useful in the ordinary, unromantic way that matters most: take the watch off on Friday evening and there is a decent chance it is still running when you pick it up again on Sunday.
The clear casebacks also give these references more to offer than a dial-only update. Citizen is not pretending the movement is haute horlogerie, and it does not need to. The appeal is that the watch feels complete. You get a patterned dial on the front and a mechanical view on the back.

What This Means for the Tsuyosa
These are Hong Kong releases for now, and Citizen has not confirmed a wider rollout. That is familiar territory with regional Tsuyosa references. Some appear quickly elsewhere, while others become the sort of models collectors watch for through Japanese and Hong Kong dealers.
Still, the point is clear. Citizen is taking the smaller Tsuyosa seriously. The 37mm size, sapphire crystal, guilloche dials, and 60-hour Cal. 8310 make this branch of the collection feel more considered than a simple colour refresh.

The Verdict
The 37mm Tsuyosa is starting to look like a permanent part of Citizen's catalogue, and that is the better story than either dial colour on its own.
The NK0030-51E and NK0032-56A give buyers two clear choices without changing the formula that made the Tsuyosa popular. One is discreet and textured. The other leans into gold-tone colour and a more dressed-up look. Both benefit from the 37mm case and the 60-hour Cal. 8310.
If Citizen keeps adding references at this size, the Tsuyosa will have something many affordable integrated-bracelet watches still lack: a compact option that feels intentional.
