Citizen Eco-Drive One AQ5025-04N: 4.5mm Thin in Green

The Citizen Eco-Drive One AQ5025-04N is a very thin green-dial dress watch, not a complicated one. Its 36.6mm black case is only 4.5mm thick, and Citizen limits this version to 250 pieces worldwide.

The decision is simple. Consider it if a compact, lightweight solar dress watch matters more than mechanical movement theatre. Skip it if daily-life water resistance, a leather strap or a Japan retail price of JPY 363,000 makes the proposition too delicate or too expensive for the way you wear watches.

At 4.5mm, thinness is the whole point

Citizen states a 36.6mm case width, 4.5mm thickness and 42g watch weight. The stainless-steel case receives a black Duratect DLC finish, while clarity-coated sapphire crystal covers the dial. Those numbers describe a watch designed to disappear under a cuff rather than announce itself across a room.

The size should suit readers who find modern 40mm dress watches unnecessarily broad. It is still worth treating the dimensions as catalogue evidence rather than a wrist test. WristBear has not handled this reference, so there is no pretend try-on verdict here.

What changed

  • A green dial uses mother-of-pearl across part of its surface.
  • The stainless-steel case receives a black Duratect DLC finish.
  • This release is limited to 250 pieces worldwide.

What stayed the same

  • Eco-Drive One remains focused on a genuinely thin 4.5mm case.
  • Calibre 8845 remains a 1.00mm light-powered movement with small seconds.
  • The basic ownership proposition is still low-maintenance solar quartz rather than mechanical spectacle.

Calibre 8845 keeps the watch simple

Calibre 8845 is a 1.00mm Eco-Drive movement with small seconds at six o’clock. Citizen rates it to ±15 seconds per month and about seven months of running time on a full charge. Charging warnings, overcharge protection and quick start are included, but the watch is not pretending to be a miniature complication showcase.

That is either refreshing or slightly severe. The movement removes routine battery changes and helps make the case unusually thin. In exchange, buyers who want visible mechanics, a sweeping seconds hand or a long specification list will find very little to admire beyond the engineering restraint.

What the green dial changes

The green dial uses mother-of-pearl on part of its surface, framed by silver-colour markers and hands inside the black case. This contrast gives the watch more visual weight than its dimensions suggest. It also means the dial will not look completely flat or identical under every light, which is rather the point of using mother-of-pearl.

The alligator-leather strap closes with a folding push-button clasp. Citizen lists only daily-life water resistance, so this is a dress-watch configuration with dress-watch limits. A 4.5mm case is clever, but it is not a reason to take the watch swimming.

The practical read The thin case is the reason to care. The green mother-of-pearl dial and black DLC finish give this edition its identity, but the 4.5mm profile and 42g watch weight are what separate it from an ordinary small dress watch.

Japan price and UAE availability

Citizen Japan lists the AQ5025-04N at JPY 363,000 including tax, with release scheduled for 15 October 2026. Using the JPY/AED rate retrieved on 8 October 2026, that is about AED 8,431.04. This is an indicative conversion only, not official UAE retail, landed cost or a discount.

WristBear stock and UAE availability are unconfirmed.

Verdict: a thin watch with a specific look

The AQ5025-04N works for someone who wants Eco-Drive One’s thinness but finds the usual restrained dress-watch palette too safe. The green mother-of-pearl dial and black case are the entire visual argument. The 4.5mm case and 42g weight are the technical argument.

If water resistance or a tougher everyday setup matters more, look elsewhere in Citizen’s catalogue. If compact dimensions and low-maintenance solar ownership are the priority, this is a coherent release rather than a colour change looking for a press release.
