Citizen Attesa AT8296-53A vs AT8297-51L: Specs and Price

Release brief

The AT8296-53A and AT8297-51L are the same 42mm Citizen Attesa H800 platform in two different colour treatments. Both use Super Titanium, Eco-Drive radio control, a sapphire world-time bezel, perpetual calendar and chronograph. Pick the white-and-blue AT8296 for contrast, or the navy-and-rose-gold AT8297 for the darker look.

Two colourways, one Attesa platform

Citizen has kept the hardware consistent and changed the visual emphasis. The AT8296-53A has a white textured dial, blue sub-dial rings and a dark-blue sapphire bezel ring. It is the higher-contrast version. The AT8297-51L moves to navy, adds rose-gold-colour details and uses darker case elements, so the same information-heavy layout looks richer but slightly less clinical.

H800 is the reason to buy either one

The H800 is an Eco-Drive movement that receives radio time signals in Japan, China, the United States and Europe. Citizen specifies automatic station selection, world time across 26 time zones, a perpetual calendar, day and date, a power-reserve display and a 1/20-second chronograph measuring up to 60 minutes. Without signal reception, the stated accuracy is ±15 seconds per month.

A full charge can run for about ten months in power-save mode. The appeal is low-intervention ownership rather than mechanical theatre. If you want a movement to admire through a display back, this is the wrong branch of the catalogue. If you want calendar and travel functions that mostly look after themselves, the H800 is the point.

Case size and UAE availability

Both models measure 42mm across and 10.7mm thick, with a stated watch weight of 95g. Super Titanium keeps that weight down, while anti-reflective sapphire crystal and 10-bar water resistance make the specification practical for everyday wear. The 21mm bracelet includes a push-button folding clasp and Citizen’s fit adjuster.

Citizen Japan lists both at JPY 198,000 including tax. Using the dated JPY/AED rate retrieved on 8 October 2026, that is about AED 4,598.75 as an indicative conversion only. WristBear stock, UAE launch timing and official UAE retail are not confirmed.

Buyer split Choose the AT8296-53A if you want the scales and sub-dials to read more clearly at a glance. Choose the AT8297-51L if the darker dial and rose-gold-colour details matter more than maximum contrast. Mechanically, there is no meaningful winner.

Verdict: contrast or colour

The AT8296-53A is the easier recommendation if legibility and a cleaner technical look matter most. The AT8297-51L is the more distinctive choice, but the darker palette and rose-gold-colour details are doing all the decision work. There is no movement, size or water-resistance advantage either way.
