Steel case, standard leather strap with spring bars, ivory dial with bar indices. The RA-AC0033Y is from the 2026 Classic and Simple Style lineup, but it is not a CSS 38. It steps back up to 40.5mm and plates the case gold-tone. Different strap system, different size, different finish. Orient is offering two versions of the same ivory bar-index aesthetic at opposite ends of the sizing and finish spectrum. Case Size: 38.4mm vs 40.5mm This matters more than anything else in this comparison. 2mm on paper; noticeable on the wrist. The RA-AC0M04Y was designed specifically for wrists that found 40.5mm oversized. That was the entire point of launching the CSS 38 line. The RA-AC0033Y reverses that logic by returning to 40.5mm. If your wrist runs smaller, the 2022 model wins this argument outright. Same movement, smaller case, steel finish, and it should now be available at a lower price than it launched at. This is the only practical, day-to-day improvement the 2026 model offers over the 2022. If you rotate leathers, this is real. A spring bar tool is not a major hardship, but it is a friction point. The Verdict If you want 38.4mm and a steel case: the RA-AC0M04Y is the straightforward buy. Same F6724 as the new model, nothing lost on the spec sheet, and the price will reflect that it's a generation old. If 40.5mm fits your wrist and the gold-tone works for you: the RA-AC0033Y makes sense. The easy exchange strap is a genuine quality-of-life addition. Just know that Orient did not update the movement. The F6724 is unchanged. "New model" and "improved movement" are not the same thing here. Both are good watches.
