Seiko has announced the third group of limited editions marking its 145th anniversary, and the shared colour is Edo purple. The collection spans nine watches across Astron, Prospex, Presage, Seiko 5 Sports, Lukia and Rotocall, with launches scheduled for October 2026.
The point is not simply that Seiko has found another colour for another anniversary. Edo purple, or Edo-murasaki, is tied to the clothing and dye culture of Edo-period Tokyo. Seiko pairs it with restrained gold-coloured details, a design link between the company’s Tokyo roots and its current catalogue.
There are nine watches, but they are not nine versions of the same idea. The group runs from a 27.9 mm Lukia to a 43.3 mm GPS Solar Astron, with automatic, solar, radio-synchronised and digital quartz movements in between.

What Edo purple changes
The colour is used differently across the range. On the Astron HAB011 it appears on a horizontally textured gradient dial. The two Prospex models take opposite routes: the HBC006 Alpinist leans into a full purple dial, while the HBJ005 Speedtimer uses a brighter dial with black subdials and a two-colour tachymeter bezel.
The Presage HCB006 is the most literal interpretation. Its radial dial is based on “Edo Murasaki,” a cocktail created with Hisashi Kishi of STAR BAR in Ginza. Seiko 5 Sports applies the colour to the familiar SKX-series form, while the Rotocall uses a purple aluminium rotary bezel against a black case and bracelet.

Which models matter most?
For mechanical-watch buyers, the Alpinist and Presage are the obvious pair. The Alpinist offers 20-bar water resistance, sapphire and a 72-hour movement. The Presage gives up much of that toughness for the visual theatre of a Cocktail Time dial and a 4R34 GMT movement.
The Speedtimer is the low-maintenance chronograph. The Rotocall is the collector’s oddball because its rotating mode selector is not a cosmetic trick. It is the actual interface. The Lukia, meanwhile, is the smallest and most limited watch in the group, with only 400 pieces for Japan.
Release and UAE availability
Seiko lists October 2026 release timing for the internationally announced references. The HAC003, HAD003 and HEE004 are domestic Japanese editions. International allocation, UAE pricing and WristBear availability are not yet confirmed. We will update the relevant catalogue routes when that changes, rather than inventing an AED number for the sake of looking early.
