About this watch
The Seiko Prospex SBDL129 Speedtimer is a contemporary addition to Seiko's Speedtimer Solar Chronograph collection, drawing its design inspiration from the legendary 1969 Speedtimer. Its standout feature is the distinctive mint green/opal green dial, finished with a fine sand-grain texture that reduces reflections and enhances legibility. The contrasting black sub-dials and silver-tone stainless steel case create a sporty yet refined appearance, while the compact 39 mm profile gives the watch a balanced presence on the wrist.
Powering the SBDL129 is Seiko's Caliber V192 solar movement, providing an accuracy of approximately ±15 seconds per month and around six months of power reserve when fully charged. The integrated chronograph measures up to 60 minutes in 1/5-second increments, while additional functions include a 24-hour hand, small seconds, date display and power-reserve indicator. The solar system also incorporates overcharge protection, allowing the watch to be charged naturally through exposure to light.
The stainless steel case measures 39.0 mm in diameter, 45.5 mm in length and 13.3 mm thick, offering compact Speedtimer proportions. A curved sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while LumiBrite is applied to the hands and indexes. The stainless steel bracelet features a one-push three-fold clasp, and the watch includes a screw case back, tachymeter scale and magnetic resistance. With 10-bar water resistance, it is well suited to everyday wear and active lifestyles.
Weighing approximately 167 grams, the SBDL129 combines a substantial stainless steel construction with the wearable dimensions of the modern Speedtimer series.
