The Seiko Prospex Marinemaster HBF003J1 is a 900-piece Save the Ocean edition with a mangrove-green dial, the 8L45 automatic movement and a full 300-metre diver specification. It is not just a dial swap: the adjustable clasp is useful, although the large 42.6mm case remains the main fit question.
Seiko lists a November 2026 release through boutiques. UAE pricing and allocation have not been confirmed, so the regional price below is context rather than a local offer.

Seiko Prospex Marinemaster HBF003J1
The mangrove dial is restrained rather than loud
The deep green dial refers to mangrove forests that grow where seawater and freshwater meet. Seiko adds a pink-gold-coloured seconds hand, but leaves the rest of the watch recognisably Marinemaster. The colour should shift more with lighting than the clean catalogue front view suggests, though that remains a source-based observation rather than a wrist test.
The case measures 42.6mm wide, 14.1mm thick and 49.3mm lug to lug. Those are serious diver proportions. The curved profile may help, but buyers who normally prefer compact Seiko divers should not assume the short-looking lugs make this one small.

What changed
- The green dial takes its colour from mangrove forests, with a pink-gold-coloured seconds hand for contrast.
- The edition is limited to 900 pieces and sold through Seiko boutiques.
- The clasp adds 16mm of tool-free adjustment in 2mm increments.
What stayed the same
- The 42.6mm 1968 Heritage case remains a substantial professional-diver shape.
- Calibre 8L45 provides a 72-hour reserve and +10/-5 seconds-per-day stated accuracy.
- Sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel display and 300-metre water resistance keep the flagship tool-watch specification.
8L45 is the reason this sits above ordinary Prospex divers
Calibre 8L45 is automatic with manual winding, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and carries a stated reserve of approximately 72 hours. Seiko quotes accuracy of +10 to -5 seconds per day. A date display and hacking seconds cover the practical basics.
The case uses a dual-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface. Water resistance is 300 metres, supported by a screw-down crown, screw case back and unidirectional bezel. LumiBrite appears on the hands, markers and bezel.

The clasp is the useful change
The steel bracelet uses a three-fold push-button clasp with a sliding adjustment system. Seiko says it provides up to 16mm of adjustment in 2mm steps and can be shortened while closed. That matters on a substantial steel diver, especially across temperature changes or when worn over a thin sleeve.
The adjustment range should make the watch easier to fit, but it does not change the basic character: this remains a large steel Marinemaster.
The practical read The dial is the emotional reason to choose it; the clasp is the practical upgrade. The 8L45, 300-metre rating and 1968 Heritage case already place it well above the usual colour-change release.
Price and UAE availability
Seiko’s official UK store lists HBF003J1 at GBP 3,300 for release on 1 November 2026. Using the dated GBP/AED rate retrieved for this article, that is about AED 16,032.39. This is an indicative conversion, not official UAE retail, landed cost or a discount.
UAE allocation and local availability have not been confirmed. The Middle East product page establishes the specification, but it does not currently provide a UAE price or stock date.
Verdict: a strong Marinemaster if the size works
The HBF003J1 earns attention for more than its green dial. The 8L45 movement, 300-metre case and genuinely useful clasp are a complete premium-diver package. The 900-piece run is factual context, not a reason to treat it as an investment.
The trade-off is simple: 42.6mm, 14.1mm and 236g will be too much watch for some buyers. If that scale suits you, this is one of the more coherent Save the Ocean editions. If it does not, the dial will not rescue the fit.
