About this watch
The Seiko 5 Sports HDB004K1 is a new addition to the SKX Series, pairing the classic SKX sports silhouette with a dressier colour scheme. A silver-white sunray dial is framed by a black unidirectional rotating bezel with gold-tone numerals, while gold-tone hands and applied indices add warmth and contrast. The day-date window sits at 3 o'clock, and the stainless steel case and bracelet give it a clean, versatile look that suits both weekday office wear and relaxed weekend outfits for men who want a sporty watch with a refined edge.
Inside is the Seiko Caliber 4R36, a proven in-house automatic movement with 24 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. It can also be wound by hand, and the stop-second (hacking) function lets you set the time precisely to the second. The movement drives a practical day and date display, and its rotor and finishing can be admired through the see-through screw case back. It is a dependable, easily serviced calibre that has powered Seiko's automatic sports watches for years.
The case measures 42.5mm in diameter, 14.2mm thick and 46.0mm lug to lug, with a 22mm lug width and a total weight of about 169g. A curved Hardlex crystal protects the dial, and LumiBrite on the hands and indices ensures good legibility in low light. Magnetic resistance is rated at 4,800 A/m. With 100-meter (10 bar) water resistance, it is suitable for swimming and everyday water exposure. The stainless steel bracelet closes with a three-fold clasp with secure lock and push-button release.
